The Musician and The Micro was the UK’s first book to explore the application of computers to popular music.

Published by Blandford in 1983, the book examined how computers would help composers realise their music with sampling and digital recording techniques.

Prior to writing The Musician and The Micro Ray Hammond has been the technical editor of Sounds, (1971-74), the editor of Beat Instrumental (1974) and the founder and editorial director of International Musician and recording World (1975-1980).
