Ray Hammond
International Musician and Recording World
Ray Hammond founded the monthly magazine International Musician and Recording World in 1974 and invited Richard Desmond, now owner of the Daily Express Group, to become his partner. With financier Malcolm Green, they launched International Musician and Recording World in the UK and Ray Hammond fulfilled the role of Editorial Director. It was rapidly successful and wholly-owned editions were launched successfully in the USA and Germany.
In 1977 Ray Hammond and Richard Desmond founded The Advertising Practice, an advertising agency specialising in the consumer sector. With Ray Hammond as Creative Director, this business also enjoyed international success with offices in both the UK and the USA.
In 1980 Ray Hammond sold all of his interests in magazine publishing and advertising to Richard Desmond in order to concentrate on a writing, broadcasting and speaking career.
